Since its inception in 1973, Caverswall has manufactured premium quality, English fine bone china exclusively in Stoke-on-Trent, home of the legendary Potteries.

The company employs a small team of 30 talented craftsmen, potters and artisans, whose unsurpassed traditional skills of making and hand-decorating have been passed down through the generations. The whole process, from raw clay to finished product, takes place under one roof, to ensure exacting quality control. The result of this close attention to detail is elegant, almost translucent, fine bone china – widely regarded as the jewel of ceramic materials.

Caverswall’s commitment to excellence was formally recognised in 2008, when the company was granted its first Royal Warrant, as fine bone china manufacturer to HRH The Prince of Wales.

Collections include the cheerful Jester range (edged in boldly coloured diamonds), the contemporary Velocity (discernable by its cool, monochromatic lines) and the regal Sovereign range (with its medley of deep reds, blacks and golds). The apex of Caverswall’s artistry is the sought-after Regency collection, inspired by the decadent Georgian era, featuring a profusion of fanciful details and elaborate gold borders.

For special occasions, it’s worth investing in a piece of commemorative ware, depicting personal sentiments, overlaid with delicate gold filigree and hand-finished in gold leaf. Or, for something a little more extravagant, there’s the grandiose, hand-painted collection, which wouldn’t look at all out of place behind glass in the V&A. In every case, iconic English representations spring forth.

The eminently sophisticated Antler Trellis collection, designed in collaboration with Scottish estate, Gordon Castle (known for having Europe’s largest walled garden), was inspired by the extraordinary domed glass ceiling – once replete with stag antlers – and features a chic ‘latticework’ antler print, perfectly emulating its muse. Available in ivory cream and gold, black and gold, and a vibrant red and gold – the design transcends time and genre to work equally well in a variety of styles, from classic to contemporary.

Aside from the brand’s ample selection of beguiling tea and dinnerware, Caverswall offers an exceptional bespoke service for truly personal tableware: from monogramming or cresting, through to the design of wholly customised items, with the option to select from a vast portfolio of designs, patterns and shapes (including the quintessentially English Winchester, Mayfair and Westminster varieties).

No task is too big or too small: a single commission receives the same attention as full banquet ware, underlining Caverswall’s overriding spirit of fastidiousness. This commitment to exceeding expectations may explain why some of the world’s most celebrated individuals are customers both past and present.

Caverswall has a distinguished distribution in many of the world’s leading speciality and department stores to add to its roster of eminent private clients. Acquired by Halcyon Days Group in early 2015, Caverswall remains devoted to preserving its English manufacture and undeniable reputation for quality.

As the eagerness for all things British surges onwards, export will surely be next on the agenda, but one thing’s for sure – this quintessentially British establishment will always stay true to its roots and continue to curate some of the world’s most exciting exhibits.
