You’ll need to dig out those woollies, wellingtons and wax jackets ready for a revitalising retreat in the North Yorkshire countryside…

With plenty of frosty fields for neighbours, birdsong as the only alarm and award-winning treatment rooms for those essential toxin removing massages, what more could you wish for this January?

Stan Seaton

Check into your individually designed room, where you’ll be greeted by natural interiors, open brick walls, fireplaces, wooden floors and the comfiest of beds, oh and did we mention those extra large bathtubs?

Brim the tub to the top and soak away any stress before heading to the relaxed Coach House restaurant for a winter warmer. Perch up on a perfectly worn armchair by the fireside for an hour or two before dinner.

When dinner time arrives expect a nine-course tasting menu at the estate’s very own refined restaurant, Forge. Large fires and flicking candlelight give the restaurant a warm glow. Diners will find perfectly plated produce inspired by ingredients foraged and farmed on the estate and surrounding landscape. If you have room, be sure to grab a nightcap at the bar before hitting the hay in your very own beautiful bolthole.

The only reminder you’ll need is ‘snooze’; wake up when you please and take a stroll to the Coach House for a hearty winter breakfast. If you’re an early riser we’d recommend trying out the estate’s woodland walk.

Whilst you’re all wrapped up, take a sneak peek of the secret walled garden, which boasts two acres of sleeping flowerbeds. The enclosed garden feeds the estate throughout the year and if you look close enough, you’ll even discover the original Head Gardner’s home.

Next up is your massage at the Treatment Rooms, drift away with the stress-free scents created with products from Kiss the Moon, or go for a revitalising muscle pick-me-up with a VOYA massage.

Then kick-back in the lounge with that book that you’ve been meaning to read for the last year. There’s also a shop filled with homeware handpicked by estate owner and design director, Rebecca Allison. From Nkuku cushions to calming winter candles, if you’re in need of an excuse, why not call it memorabilia?
