House Guest Podcast

Welcome to the House Guest podcast, where C&TH Interiors Editor @carolewannett chats with experts from the world of interior design and decoration, the people behind the houses and hotels you see in glossy magazines like ours. Some of the names will be familiar, and others may be less so, but we’re sure you’ll recognise the hotels and restaurants they’ve designed. And if you’re in the middle of your own building project or restyle, we hope you’ll pick up some tips. Enjoy! This week’s House Guest podcast was recorded at @highclere_castle – home to the 8th Earl and Countess of Carnarvon. If you are a fan of Downton Abbey, you will know the house very well, and away from the fictional world of Julian Fellowes, Highclere is very much a family home. Lady Carnarvon kindly welcomed Country & Town House magazine inside for a peek at life without the tv cameras. She revamps and renovates the house, where and when necessary, by herself (with the occasional helping hand). A huge task, as along with the daily visitors and running of the cafe, she is launching a Highclere gin, running events, writing books – new one due out soon – doing yoga each morning in the garden and cycling around checking all is well in the gardens, followed by a gaggle of household dogs. The Downton movie has just been filmed at Highclere. Link in bio ☝🏻

Delight in interiors inspiration, compelling success stories and an abundance of restaurants, houses and hotels you might just have walked into yourself… The House Guest Podcast

Who knows what this is? It’s jack by the hedge aka garlic mustard – quite a love-hate plant. I’m not the biggest fan but why don’t you try it for yourself?! Its faint garlic aroma lends itself well for pestos. You can also use the leaves in salads and sprinkle the flowers over dishes as a garnish. #thedoorstepkitchen #onyourdoorstep #bestofbritish #greatbritishfood #forager #spring #jackbythehedge #eattheseasons #farmtofork #allinthechase #willysacv #willyswellness #wild #foraging #food #seasonaleating #shoplocal #localfood #foodie #forage #wilderness #foodonyourdoorstep #forageuk #keepitwild #landconnection #plantlife #wildfoodlove #forageandfeast #eathewild #garlicmustard
