Cazoo St Leger: The Festival Welcoming Guests Back to the Racecourse

Get ready for a weekend at the races this September, as Doncaster Racecourse is set to host the Cazoo St Leger Festival. The highlight of the Flat racing season, the festival will play host to the Doncaster Cup and the St Leger Stakes – the oldest of Britain’s Five Classics.

Spanning four days, Cazoo St Leger will feature a mix of classic racing, music, fashion and food and drink. One of Doncaster’s favourite events of the year, visitors should expect to find flags lining the city and a party vibe throughout the festivities.

St Leger Day

Guests on day one can witness celebrities of the saddle make a return to the racecourse for a charity race as part of St Leger Legends Day. Run on the straight mile, this event is the only British charity race for ex-professional jockeys. Previous winners of the event include AP McCoy, Joseph O’Brien, Brian Harding, and Julie Krone, to name a few.

Day two is for fashion lovers and style icons. Ladies Day marks Yorkshire’s biggest social occasion, inviting guests to wear all the colours of the rainbow as part of the #FearlessFashion theme and to show thanks to local NHS teams. The best dressed has the opportunity to win £1000 as part of the Style Awards – so make sure to turn up wearing your best heels, hats and glad rags.

Ladies Day

The Doncaster Cup, the oldest race currently run under the rules of horse racing, will take place on the Saturday and coincide with the unveiling of the ‘Doncaster Hero 2021’. A celebration for the achievements of local heroes, the Doncaster Hero will highlight those who have gone above and beyond since the pandemic began last year.

The final day of racing takes places with Cazoo St Leger Day, the flagship day of the festival. This is the event the city is allegedly most keen to witness, with people of all ages flocking to the racecourse to see racing history unfold. Best get your bets in sooner rather than later.

St Leger Day

Visitors will want for nothing throughout the event, with restaurants and lounges across the venue offering everything from fizz and three-course meals to afternoon tea. For bigger groups, book one of the private boxes available for your own space to watch the events, complete with a private bar, dedicated host and balcony overlooking the racecourse. Alternatively, head over to one of the suites, where you can grab a glass of prosecco on arrival and tuck into some top-notch nosh.

The Cazoo St Leger Festival promises nothing short of an unforgettable weekend at the races. All you need to do is book your tickets.

The closest train station is Doncaster Train Station. Trains run from London Kings Cross twice an hour direct and trains from Manchester Piccadilly run every 15 minutes.
