Speaking at the event, editor Lucia van der Post said:

‘In this year’s book, some distinguished writers have written about some hugely successful brands, and many of them have written about brands that I myself did not know, and I thought this was my area of expertise… They have brought to my attention, wonderful little brands. We are really thrilled with everything in this year’s Great British Brands and think it’s even more splendid. We also have a section on new faces, where we look at the many up and coming brands and we hope that next year’s is going to be even bigger and better.’

Publisher Julia Carrick OBE said:

‘Never before has there been a more important time than now to bring together the ever growing family of Great British Brands and give a unifying voice to the UK’s extraordinary luxury crafts, design, technology, engineering, fashion, services, talent and manufacturing skills that we offer.’

‘Given the book’s mission to champion the very best of British Luxury, we hope that you will find it a fascinating way in which to discover more about the myriad British success stories, making some of world’s most brilliantly conceived and coveted products, outstanding services and world class culture.’

‘Having spent the last three decades of my career championing luxury brands it has always been my dream to create a consumer- facing guide that reflects the UK’s way of delivering luxury with a uniquely, quintessentially, British twist. By showcasing the work of our very best British brands, we have endeavoured to give our readers a fascinating insight into the British luxury industry today. ‘

Guests enjoyed beautiful sparkling wine by Nyetimber, delicious Sipsmith cocktails and British Hildon mineral water.

The best of British was celebrated in the striking surroundings of the Café Royal ballroom, which was decorated with gorgeous floral decorations by Elizabeth Marsh.
