The Great British Brands Party 2018

The who’s who of British luxury turned out to celebrate with us in London

To celebrate the launch of Great British Brands 2018, a host of big names from the British luxury industry joined us at The Pompadour Ballroom at Hotel Café Royal last week for our annual GBB party.

This year’s party was our biggest yet, with the one-off dress featured on the 2018 Great British Brands cover worn by Laura Bailey and designed by Alice Temperley being auctioned on the night in aid of Women for Women International.

‘We’ve supported Women for Women International for the last two years,’ says Alice. ‘And during that time we’ve sponsored two women through the year-long training programme – one from Afghanistan and the other from Kosovo. Knowing that my support has given these women the opportunity to learn new skills and break through the isolation caused by war and conflict is very meaningful.’

Congratulations to Andrew Cotgrove of Loomah who won the beautiful Temperley dress with a bid of £4,000 – all of which will be donated to the wonderful charity chosen by Alice Temperley.

“While Brexit still hovers like a great big unknowable entity, still dividing the country, families and friends, it hasn’t stopped our best British companies from getting on with doing whatever it is that they do best.”  – Editor Lucia Van der Post

Speaking at the event, Publisher Julia Carrick OBE said:

‘Great British Brands is our window into the world of British Luxury, promoting and showcasing the extraordinary luxury crafts, design, technology, engineering, fashion, services and manufacturing skills here in the UK. Today’s discerning consumers want brands that tell a story, are rooted in history, inspire and are of such high quality that they can be passed on to future generations. The 150 Great British Brands celebrated here – tomorrow’s heirlooms – have this in spades.’

‘With great disruption comes great opportunity.  We should stand proudly together here tonight and pay tribute to the excellence of Britain’s greatest businesses and their countless success stories.’

‘I’m especially pleased to be working this year in collaboration with Number 10 Downing Street and the GREAT Britain campaign, a brand that carries immense value for British Business. Thank you Sarah Anderson, who is here this evening, for ensuring that the book will be distributed to 166 countries worldwide and will sit in every British Embassy.’
