National Gardening Week, lots of Tweed, and something new from Caprice in Mayfair…

The Tweed Run London

1. National Gardening Week

It’s here! If you haven’t yet read our notes on getting back in the garden for the coming season, do have a look. The Royal Horticultural Society has some great events on for the next five days, and we’ll be rounding up some of the best English gardens too.

2. Plaid out

Burberry filed a law suit in February against J.C. Penney for ‘willfully and intentionally’ attempting to ‘capitalize on the strength and worldwide fame’ of the brand’s iconic plaid print design. The two companies have now quietly settled the $2 million-plus case out of court, reports The Fashion Law.

3. English homes

We love the countryside and quaint homes nestled within it. Here, we find ten of the most charming village properties available on the market right now.

4. Hey angel

Angel Costumes, the London outfitters which has won 36 times at the Oscars, has launched a new tour called ‘Behind the Seams’. The £20 sightseeing trip takes visitors through its warehouses and workshops and showcases the costumers collection. It coincides with a book release, charting the company’s history in the film industry.

5. Tweed ride

We all marvelled at the delightful tweed horse last month. Let us now cast our eyes upon The Tweed Run. In its 8th year, the event, exquisitely British, sees a public bicycle ride through London in which all participants sport Tweed attire. Tickets to cycle have sold out, but tickets to the after party go on sale on Wednesday 13 April at noon and will be available here.

6. Capability Brown

London’s biggest Capability Brown event, Clumps & Concrete: 300 years of Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown, has been announced, and will be presented by World Monuments Fund. Brown is ‘one of the greatest and most important figures in the history of landscape gardening,’ and historian Dr Oliver Cox will explain how these evocative vistas were created in a talk at The Royal Geographic Society on Tuesday 26 April at 7pm.

7. When in Milan

For the forth year running, fashion designer Vivienne Westwood will host an exclusive collaboration as part of Milan Design Week 2016. The British brand has partnered with design company Stories of Italy for the international debut of its home décor collections. The installation will be unveiled to the public in the Vivienne Westwood Milan flagship store in Corso Venezia 25 from 12-17 April 2016.

8. Land on their feet

The Prince’s Countryside Fund Land Rover Bursary Scheme 2016 is happening once again and applications are open. The bursary seeks to award up to five ‘inspiring’ young people aged 21 to 35 with the use of a Land Rover Discovery Sport for a year, to support the development of their countryside careers.

9. Something new from Caprice

A prime restaurant site in Mayfair has been acquired by Caprice Holdings, The Caterer reports. The site is located on North Audley Street opposite Roka. We can expect a new 120-cover restaurant in summer 2016.

10. Gwyneth Paltrow

…has a cookbook out on Thursday. What is it with celebrities and their obsession with ‘healthy’ breakfasts?
