Secret Cinema is Launching an Immersive Bridgerton Show
Have you heard the latest from Lady Whistledown? For its next immersive experience, Secret Cinema is taking on Bridgerton, with a Regency ball set to take place in London this November – and guests are invited to ‘take on a path and title of their choosing for a debut into (im)polite society’.
In classic Secret Cinema-style, most of the details are being kept under wraps – though a few snippets have been revealed. Visitors will be transported to the 1830s, with the three-hour experience centred around a glamorous ballroom, complete with lavish food and drinks. There’s talk of a string quartet playing reworked pop hits – which fans will recognise from the series – plus life drawing and boxing lessons (though, sadly, we can’t guarantee these will be with Regé-Jean Page, AKA The Duke of Hastings).
You may come across lookalikes though, as actors staged as the characters will be wandering around the venue. Worried your social etiquette isn’t quite up to scratch? Fear not: Lady Whistledown will whip you into shape on her refresher course at the Finishing School. Unlike other Secret Cinema experiences, there won’t be a film screening – but an enchanting light show from The Lumiere Brothers will project key moments from the programme’s first season.
The experience’s creative director Matt Costain said: ‘Re-imagining the stunning world of the Netflix and Shondaland hit series Bridgerton and conjuring up Regency era London has been a pleasure.
‘From casting and costumes, to soundtrack and set design, Bridgerton has pushed boundaries and we’re excited to take this even further by bringing the scandalous world to life. This is an immersive experience that marries 1800s London with modern day special effects, while characters from Bridgerton move freely through the world, interacting with guests.’
