Those with a penchant for nostalgia, Audrey Hepburn, or early 20th Century fashion, listen in. After 21 years, My Fair Lady will hit the West End stage once more in summer 2022 for a limited 16-week run.

New York’s Lincoln Centre Theatre will show Lerner & Loewe’s production of the story at London’s Coliseum. Director Bartlett Sher will tell the famous and cherished story of Eliza Dolittle, the young cockney flower seller, and Henry Higgins, a linguistics professor who is determined to turn her into a ‘proper lady’. The question is: who is really transformed?

The questions the story raises – that of gender roles, femininity and status – are no less poignant today. Sher says that ‘getting a chance to revisit Shaw’s extraordinary story of class and privilege in a new age, and especially for London audiences, is a rare and special event.’

The story never gets old, and neither does the music. Composed by Frederick Loewe, expect the classics of ‘I Could Have Danced All Night,’ ‘Get Me to the Church on Time,’ ‘Wouldn’t It Be Loverly,’ ‘On the Street Where You Live,’ ‘The Rain in Spain,’ and ‘I’ve Grown Accustomed to Her Face.’

Lerner & Loewe’s production of My Fair Lady has seen resounding success in Broadway. with much critical acclaim. Let’s see what the London audience make of it next year.

Performances begin on 7 May 2022 with an opening night on 18 May 2022. Tickets go on sale 23 November 2021 at 10am, book tickets here. A note on access. There is a captioned performance on 26 May; an audio described performance on 11 June and a signed performance on 14 July.
