Wondering how to spoil your other half this Valentine’s Day? Look no further. These date ideas go above and beyond the norm – many quite literally. From helicopter rides to sky-diving to private chefs in penthouse suites, these are guaranteed to sweep your sweetheart off their feet…

Fly high in a helicopter

The Grove

The sky really is the limit at Hertfordshire hotel The Grove, where couples can enjoy a 40-minute helicopter ride over the capital as part of their Height of Romance package. Fly above the hotel’s picturesque grounds and over the meandering River Thames, taking in spectacular views of London from high in the sky. Afterwards you’ll stay in the hotel’s gorgeous Vice-Presidential suite, where you’ll be greeted with a bottle of Bollinger and some chocolate-dipped strawberries. A private bath butler will be on hand to create the perfect bath setting for you whenever suits, complete with candles, oils and bubbles. You can also enjoy a 55-minute spa treatment, and your perfect day will finish with a three-course dinner at The Stables, followed by breakfast in your suite the following morning. Design your own bespoke menu at Le Lodge d’Amour

Dine in a riverside hut complete with your own private waiter at romantic London restaurant Le Pont de la Tour. Their intimate terrace spot, Le Lodge d’Amour, is inviting couples to bid on the chance to create a bespoke menu based on your favourite dishes alongside Head Chef Orson Vergnaud. If you don’t win highest bidder, you can still opt for the decadent 5 or 6 course set menu, complete with a glass or bottle of bubbly. Rent out your own rooftop cinema

The Berkeley

For a truly magical starlit setting, couples can rent out the entire rooftop cinema of Mayfair hotel The Berkeley for a private viewing. In your cosy retreat, you’ll be able to choose from a selection of romantic classics such as Notting Hill and Sleepless in Seattle, which you can enjoy alongside a bottle of bubbly, mulled wine, canapes and chocolates. 11-17 February. Stay in a penthouse suite with a private chef

Enjoy a spa day and dinner at The Sofitel St James

After some R&R, head to the art-deco inspired restaurant The Balcon for an indulgent five-course menu of fine French cuisine, with dishes like wild mushroom ravioli, rabbit with shoulder cottage pie and a rose and raspberry chocolate ganache. Dine under the stars in one of Aviary’s intimate igloos, perched on a rooftop which looks over the London skyline. Dishes include tempura oyster with caviar, and saffron risotto with red prawns and burrito, followed by a milk chocolate mousse with passion fruit, yuzu and mango. Wash down with a ‘Love Potion’ cocktail, mixed with gin, Disaronno, cranberry juice, grenadine, honey and lemon juice. Want to make a night of it? Book a stay in one of Blakes luxury rooms, where you can choose a special Valentine’s package complete with rose petals on the bed, a book of love poetry and passionfruit chocolates. The Aphrodisiac Menu will be available on 14 February and priced from £65pp. Love Packages are priced from £411 per room per night.
