What To Do Today: Go and See 180 Illuminated Origami Boats

A whopping 180 origami boats were placed in Regents Canal and set free to sail on 15 March. Illuminated with different coloured lights, the artwork created by Steve Messam will remain floating until 12 April.

The ‘paper’ origami boats were made to mark the launch of a mindfulness and wellbeing series of events at Merchant Square. The creator, Steve Messam, hopes the origami boats will encourage Londoners to give themselves a rest outside of their busy schedules and have some much-needed ‘me time’.

How to Keep the Kids Happy this Easter Holidays

During Merchant Square’s Mindfulness March, a botanical bar will be popping up on the Floating Pocket Park to serve visitors refreshments whilst they enjoy the installation. Be sure to head down to the floating mindfulness project, Barge Fiodra which is currently moored in Merchant Square if you’ve got a lot going on, or just simply fancy a chill out. Mindfulness exercises will be on board such as theatre, yoga and art & film screenings.

Get away from the hustle and bustle of London’s streets and rent out a GoBoat. Explore Paddington and Little Venice on the water whilst controlling your very own boat and exploring London’s hidden waterside gems.

The Illuminated Origami Boats will be on display until April 12th at Merchant Square.
