Put on your thinking caps for London Fashion Week…
We’re always on the lookout for a good medley of art and fashion. This collaboration between portrait artist Lorna May Wadsworth and esteemed milliner Victoria Grant is just the ticket.
The Milliner, 9-18 February, at Philip Mould’s Pall Mall Gallery
In a friendship where one paints arresting portraits of political leaders and the other fashions avant-garde hats for the heads of stars, socialites and designers, a collaboration is fated to be characterful and stylish. Below, Lorna May Wadsworth and Victoria Grant pose with a portrait that Wadsworth painted of Grant and her hats; the piece inspired the collaboration between the two artists.
Grant has created a set of high-end hats, from top hats to berets replete with feathers and jewels. Wadsworth’s work, along with the Pall Mall gallery collection of 18th-20th century portrait miniatures have inspired her collection of millinery, some of which are featured on the hats themselves.
Philip Mould & Co. are delighted to be collaborating with Grant to display a selection of miniatures on her hats. The exhibition seeks to remind viewers that these highly personal and intimate objects, now generally displayed in cabinets or on walls, were often originally intended to be proudly worn.

Wadsworth’s hand in the exhibit is apparent in the selection of glamorous silk, art-print scarves, such as the one below that features the Grant portrait that started it all.
The collection is sure to get viewers in the right headspace for fashion week, which runs 16 – 20 February 2018.
Opening times are 10am – 6pm; the exhibition will be closed the weekend of 10 – 11 February.
