To celebrate 90 years of the classic novel by iconic British author Agatha Christie, ‘The Seven Dials Mystery’, the area of Seven Dials itself is coming together for an almighty celebration. At the centre of this celebration is a free book hunt, where there are 90 books to be found dotted around the Seven Dials area. Once found, the books can be kept, and as a second reward for first class detective work, the lucky ‘finders’ will also enjoy a Seven Dials bookmark which has been exclusively designed for the purpose of this celebratory literary occasion.
As well as the book hunt, the shops and restaurants of Seven Dials are getting in on the action. Marcus Wareing’s Tredwells, a restaurant named after the character of the butler in Christie’s ‘The Seven Dials Mystery’, is creating a special three-course meal and a one-off cocktail in aid of the celebration. The restaurant has many more exciting surprises to be revealed throughout the year, all to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the novel. Other venues in Seven Dials are getting involved in the celebrations – quote ‘Agatha Christie’ at The Escapologist for 50% off your first round, enjoy tastings and a 10% discount at Pierre Hermé Paris, and head to Creoate at 6.30 pm tonight for an engaging panel of women including Kristen Byass and Melissa Zahorujko, Caroline Rowland and Ashley Horn who’ll be discussing the challenges and experiences they’ve come across when creating content.
Seven Dials plays such a hugely important part in this iconic novel, and this will also be denoted through the commissioning of a large work of art by British artist Iona Rowland, which can be found on a billboard above Shorts Gardens. There’s so much to be seen and so much to be won – including (for a lucky 7 winners) a limited edition Agatha Christie screen print by Iona, a copy of ‘The Seven Dials Mystery’, a Seven Dials tote bag and lunch or dinner for two at Tredwells!
