Can’t get to Rio de Janeiro for their world famous carnival? Fear not – you can celebrate closer to home at SUSHISAMBA’s weekend-long party, complete with live entertainment, Brazilian food and a tableside caipirinha cart. A bossa nova music-filled brunch will take place during the day, and at night they’ll kick things up a notch with live samba performances, batacuda drummers and DJs. Feast on a Brazilian-inspired menu courtesy of chef Andreas Bollanos, featuring dishes like brazilian style bean stew with chorizo, lobster with coconut and cachaça, and akimi tuna with yusu koshu and tomato confit, alongside your choice of classic or speciality caipirinhas.
Brazil’s annual carnival is the largest party in the world. Every year floats surrounded by thousands of dancers, singers and drummers dressed in eccentric costumes parade through the Oscar Niemeyer-designed Sambódromo arena, organised by the escolas de samba (samba schools) of Rio de Janeiro. Across the five-day event, around two million people line the streets, with visitors flocking in from all over the world.
Iconic restaurant SUSHISAMBA offers a fusion of Brazilian, Japanese and Peruvian cuisine, with two branches across London: the original in Liverpool Street, and the second in Covent Garden. The Carnaval Weekender celebrations will be taking place at their City venue, which is found on the 38th and 39th floor of the Heron Tower, boasting spectacular 360 views of the capital.
