Every year, Chatsworth International Horse Trials deliver world-class competition over three days of thrilling equestrian action, as well as bounteous other entertainment options for all the family.
All three disciples will be on display and, by popular demand, the eventing challenge returns, which sees competitions complete a course of show jumps before continuing onto a round of arena cross-country fences. Other attractions for equestrian-minded attendees include the opportunity to meet the stars of the future in the Dubarry Burghley Young Event Horse 4- and 5-year-old classes; as well as spectate the British scurry and trials driving event, where ponies and drivers will tackle obstacle courses against the clock
For those who prefer horsing around themselves, Chatsworth House, garden, farmyard and playground are open as usual during the horse trials. Dogs on leads and children (not on leads) are also more than welcome to enjoy the ‘find food work walk’, which allows for entertainment and eating in equal measure.
Your four-legged friends are sure to have a ball with many suitable attractions and displays showcased over the Saturday and Sunday. Dog agility and a family fun dog show will allow them to show off their own tricks, while Paws for Thought, who have appeared at other prestigious events including Crufts, Britain’s Got Talent and The Royal Welsh, will teach them a lesson in showmanship, showcasing the pro skills of various breeds of dogs. The team, run by ex-police dog handler Stuart Brace, encourages crowd involvement with tricks and games, some of which children and adults can participate in; encapsulating the belief that all dog owners should be responsible for their pets.
Shopping enthusiast will find an extensive village of 100 high-quality trade stands for browsing in-between the action.
Gates open 8am between 10 May and 12 May. A provisional timetable is available now so you can ensure you catch your favourite events.
