Cheltenham Music Festival

Cheltenham Music Festival, just one of their festivals in their yearly event schedule, arrives this July for a celebration of world class music. This year marks Cheltenham Music Festival’s 75th anniversary, celebrated with a packed schedule of orchestral performances, yoga, ensembles, conversations and recitals. The festival is divided into themes: chamber music, dance, orchestral, talks, workshops, world premiers, choral, jazz, rising stars, the best for first timers, contemporary, music, talk, vocal. Here are our highlights to book:

  • The Nash Ensemble who’ll return for the opening concert of the festival. 5 July11am – 1pm
  • London Symphony Orchestra commissioned by Classic FM who’ll perform music by Tchaikovsky, Dani Howard and Rimsky-Korsakov. 5 July 7pm – 9pm
  • Spanish Rhapsody with Xuefei Yang, one of the most impressive guitarists of her generation. Expect spanish guitar sounds accompanied by Maria Vega, one of the UK’s top flamenco dancers. 6 July, 11am – 1pm
  • Intermission – Yoga And Musicians, a great way to spend an intermission. Connect with your body and mind through the power of music in these intermission yoga sessions. 7 July and on other days too, 9am – 10am
  • BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artists I; discover some of the UK’s most talented up and coming musicians in this recital. 7 July, 11am – 1pm
  • Classical Mixtape, 40-minute performances of classical music performed by some of the UK’s best classical musicians in the grand setting of Tewkesbury Abbey. 8 July, 8pm – 10pm
  • Rush Hour II; watch the incredibly talented 16 year old pianist Jeneba Kanneh-Mason perform. Her repetoir is vast and includes Bartók, Scarlatti and Rachmaninov. 9 July, 5:30pm – 6:30pm

“Cheltenham brings new and old together. They put on some really daring programming. It’s a wonderful way to display all sorts of music and all sorts of musicians, including up and coming artists” Dame Evelyn Glennie
