Waddesdon Manor has been a country hub of culture, arts and entertainment since it was built by Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild between 1874 and 1885 with the specific purpose of holding his extraordinary collection of art. Since being taken over by the charitable Rothschild Foundation on behalf of the National Trust in 1957, art and culture lovers alike are known to frequent the Manor in the search for an artistic discovery like no other. Waddesdon Manor is home to the Rothschild Collection of paintings, sculptures and decorative arts, and knows just how to get visitors involved; through a rich events schedule and special seasonal happenings.
This Christmas is no exception. The grand Buckinghamshire Manor will be completely transformed into a twinkling merry paradise complete favourite Christmas traditions; the smell of pine, carol singing, and traditional and popular Christmas hits filling the air. Each room will be decorated in the Christmas spirit with something to see, smell and explore, such as a tree made of Christmas carol sheet music, a vast Christmas feast in the Billiard Room, a winding staircase encased with seasonal greenery, and a magical moving star guiding visitors throughout parts of the house.
The gardens, crisp and frosty, will also take part in this festive transformation, illuminated by colourful lights and holding the returning Winter Trail – this time, the longest ever. The trail will lead visitors thorugh the perfectly quaffed gardens where they’ll discover light features, a river of light, floodlit disco balls, and the perfect view of the façade of the Manor which will come to life with the help of a light show accompanied by Christmas music. Waddesdon Manor is a sight for sore eyes for anyone who loves grand architecture, and Christmas is one of the most magical times to experience it.
To top it all off, their Christmas Fair returns for a longer run this year (16 November – 22 December) with over 80 wooden chalets hosting artisan makers and producers providing unique gifts just in time for Christmas.
Christmas at Waddesdon Manor takes place from Saturday 16 November 2019 – Sunday 5 January 2020, 11am – 6pm, Wednesday to Sunday.
