This January COMO Shambhala Urban Escape launches its new speaker series, running in partnership with Head Talks, named the ‘mental health advocate’s answer to TED Talks’.
Taking place once a month, each session will see a leading wellness expert speak about their own personal mental health journey, discussing the challenges surrounding wellbeing. Kicking off the series on 23 January is Kimberley Parsons, yoga practitioner, chef and author of The Yoga Kitchen Plan. She’ll be discussing how we can use food and lifestyle techniques to improve our mood, based on the mantra of ‘food as medicine’.
Next up is clinical psychologist Dr. Genevieve von Lobb, who will be focusing on mental health in children, looking at modern challenges such as the perils of social media and eco-anxiety. She’ll be exploring different parenting styles and offering practical tips, leaving parents confident and armed with new ways to connect with their children.
The March guest speaker is author Charlotte Reed, who documented her journey towards overcoming depression and anxiety in her bestselling book, May The Thoughts Be With You. During the talk she’ll share insight into what it’s like to battle with mental health issues – and how to gradually overcome them.
April’s event is all about sleep, hosted by Ayurvedic coach Anandi, who struggled with getting a good night’s shuteye for many years. Now an expert in how to deal with sleep and stress, he’ll be discussing how your daily schedule and habits can greatly influence your sleep patterns.
Guests have the option to complement talks with COMO Shambhala London’s yoga and meditation one-on-one sessions, or one of their specialised body and mind treatments.
