Where? Dandelyan Bar at Mondrian London
What? The ‘World’s Best Cocktail Bar’ Dandelyan has officially announced their World Botany Series starting in May in a bid to promote up and coming bars from all around the globe. Four bars will be taking over Dandelyan’s cocktail menu to combine different techniques and ingredients for thirsty Londoners. Last year’s series was a huge success and saw Miami’s The Broken Shaker create a bespoke Fourth of July menu while Mexico City’s Limantour Licoreria devised a menu which featured unusual south-American ingredients.
A creation from the brains behind the Swedish restaurant, Faviken will be kicking off the series on the 7 May for three days as the recently launched cocktail bar pop-up Svartklubbe will be curating a unique menu in collaboration with Dandelyan. With their shared ethos of carefully sourced produce and innovative techniques in mind, they will be mixing up the menu by including some native ingredients grown in the region of Jämtland, such as rowanberries, meadowsweet, Attika (a Swedish vinegar) and woodruff.
LA bar, The Walker Inn will be the next host in the series as they celebrate 4th July by creating a special menu. Following this will be Charles H bar from the Four Seasons, Seoul who will produce an autumn menu in October. The final collaboration will see Singapore’s cocktail bar Native as they design a seasonally inspired menu using South-East Asian ingredients in January.
Each collaboration will take over Dandelyan for four days only and all cocktails will be available alongside ones from Dandelyan’s ‘The Modern Life of Plants’ menu.
‘Hampus has been a real favourite of Team Lyan’s – we’ve always loved what he’s been doing over in Sweden – and Faviken was one of my favourite ever meals when I went there for my 30th, so we’re suitably excited to have them over for an exploration of their unique insight into the produce from Scandinavia, and how they create such distinct ingredients and combinations. We’re very excited to collaborate on a menu that celebrates a sense of locality and provenance, with a global outlook’ – Speaking on the series, Ryan Chetiyawardana (Mr Lyan)
Bookings can be made through Dandelyan’s reservation line for up to six guests and walk-ins are also permitted
