This Easter, Chiswick House and Gardens is celebrating the women that played in important role in the estates history. There’s plenty to see and do for all the family…
On Saturday 31 March, ‘Dorothy Boyle’, Countess of Burlington (1699-1758) will welcome guests to Chiswick House and show visitors the fabrics she chose for each room, as well as pointing out portraits of all her family. The Countess was the Lady of the Bedchampber to Queen Caroline, responsible for waiting on and entertaining the Queen. She reportedly loved drawing and painting.
On Monday 2 April, it will be Easter tea time, with family crafting activities inspired by Georgian tea parties. Children will be able to make and embellish teapot decorations to transport them back in time. Their creations will be displayed in the festivities of a garden party celebrations to take place in July (as well as being able to take some of their creations home).
Events run from 30 March 2018 until 2 April 2018, 10am – 5pm. Drop-in sessions throughout the day. Kids go free in the house every day.
