A brand spanking new event hits Chelsea Harbour’s Design Centre this month, in a grand celebration of the excellence, craftsmanship and creativity of furniture making. In the first week of October, fans of contemporary furniture design are invited to view a curated collection of modern, bespoke furniture designed by some of the UK’s most celebrated and influential craftspeople.
The exhibition is a collaboration between Design Centre Chelsea Harbour, the world’s premier design destination, and The Furniture Makers’ Company, a livery company and charity who champion the support of those in need, nurturing skills and inspiring excellence. ‘Evolution of Tradition’ will give visitors the chance to view and buy top quality luxury furniture made solely by Bespoke Guild Mark holders – the designers awarded this prestigious accolade have been recognised by the industry as being excellent when it comes to the design, function, craftsmanship and materials used to create their exquisite pieces of furniture. The line up of these talented designers is superbly impressive, boasting an accessible juxtaposition of well-established and up-and-coming talent, including Byron & Gómez, Laurent Peacock, Katie Walker and John Makepeace OBE.
The event will attract the creme de la creme of the design world such as architects, designers, international collectors and style-seekers, alongside members of the public who have a keen interest in luxury furniture, how it’s conceived and made and interested in acquiring unique pieces for themselves!
As told by Richard Williams, Bespoke Guild Mark chairman, the event is set to be ‘unmissable’ and will ‘demonstrate the world-class mastery of Bespoke Guild Mark holders’. With the aim to allow its visitors to delve deeper into the elusive world of design, the event schedule is packed with talks, workshops, tours and demonstrations to allow just that.
