What?
Paddington Central will launch The Floating Market, a five-day event to transform the area’s canalside into a bustling hub of market stalls and boat traders, offering food and drink such as artisanal produce from local farmers.
From Wednesday 29 August – Sunday 2 September, barges along The Grand Union Canal will open their doors to local vendors who will be selling goods such as fresh bread, cheese, charcuterie, olives, fresh juice, cakes, fruit & veg and fresh flowers. Throughout the event, visitors will be able to purchase items on board the barges and also from the towpath, where there will be street food stalls and live music.
Market goers will be able to get a flower fix at the Freddie’s Flowers tricycle stall and Clifton Nurseries. Lamar Scarves, Local Honey Man and Sunwar Foods will take over Paddington Central’s very own Pioneer Barge, respectively selling hand printed and designed scarves, local honey and chilli oils. Other boat traders include The Onion Barge, who will sell organic fruit and veg as well as other sustainable products.
As well as the boat traders, market stalls will pop-up along the towpath including Bread Winners, a bakery that empowers refugees into employment; Priestlands Birch, who will sell handmade Birch Tree products from Exmoor; Woza Biltong; McKinley And Paget, selling plant powered home fragrance; Aequill, selling handmade scented candles; and Imazi Naturals, selling handmade soaps and bath salts. Visitors will also be able to enjoy a drink canalside from local restaurant barge London Shell Co.’s pop up English sparkling wine bar, M Wines or from Crazy Dave Cider, Ascot Beer Festival gold award winners
The Floating Market will be the perfect spot to enjoy with friends, colleagues and neighbours, offering a variety of delicious food and drink, alongside other goods, on Paddington Central’s vibrant canalside.
