Labrador or Spaniel, big or small, all breeds, shapes and sizes are welcome at Goodwoof: the ultimate day out for four-legged friends. A canine extravaganza set in the rolling fields of one of Britain’s most beautiful country estates, Goodwoof is worlds away your regular dog show. The line-up includes an array of activities for dogs and their human companions, from pampering to competitions to trails to demonstrations. Elsewhere: the skills of working and rescue dogs will be on show, alongside a centre dedicated to canine and human health, a dog-friendly open air cinema, numerous high-end retailers to browse, and a range of food and drink to consume.
Dogs have always been a big part of Goodwood. The 3rd Duke commissioned architect James Wyatt to create what we now know as The Kennels, often described as the most luxurious dog house in the world. In the spirit of Wyatt’s building, Goodwood will present a collection of 21st century kennels – which will be the subject of a grand charity auction taking place after the event, in aid of charity Canine Partners.
Charles Gordon-Lennox, 11th Duke of Richmond and owner of Goodwood Estate said: ‘Many people I know share the 3rd Duke’s philosophy; they would far rather spend time and money on their dogs than they would on their human guests! To this day, Goodwood is an entirely dog-friendly estate – dogs can stay at the Hotel, accompany their owners in the restaurants, and even join our Members’ clubhouse, The Kennels. We thought that it was only fitting to dedicate an entire event to them, just as we do with cars and horses at our other flagship meetings.’
