The Randox Health Grand National Festival is an iconic and traditional UK sporting event watched by millions around the globe and attended by horse-lovers and racing enthusiasts. It comprises of three days – Grand National Thursday, Ladies Day #FabulousFriday, and day 3, Grand National Day. It’s an infamous event of horse racing followed by live music, food and mingling, as well as entertainment.
On day 1, Grand National Thursday, the festival will celebrate the past and present champions of the North West, plus incredible racing. After the gates open at 11 am, the activity schedule kicks off with The Manifesto Novices’ Steeple Chase (Grade 1), followed by The Doom Bar Anniversary 4YO Juvenile Hurdle (Grade 1), further steeplechases and hurdles, and ending with The Goffs Nickel Coin Mares’ Standard Open NH Flat (Grade 2).
Day 2 is dedicated to the lovely ladies of the Grand National. Full of creative dressing and fun activities. With a spotlight on style, this will be the fourth year that Aintree Racecourse will award a car as the prize for the winner of the Style Award. The backdrop to this glorious day out will be another full day of races. The gates open at 10.30am and begin with The Merseyrail Handicap Hurdle (Grade 3), then onto The Betway Top Novices’ Hurdle (Grade 1) and The Betway Mildmay Novices’ Steeple Chase (Grade 1), other races in-between, and ending the day with The Weatherbys Racing Bank Standard Open NH Flat (Grade 2).
The final day, day 3, Grand National Day, is the main event. After the gates open at 10 am, the day is filled with competitive races that are invigoratingly high energy. On this day, the winner will be revealed out of the 40 runners and riders competing. The energy on this day, surrounded by thousands of like-minded guests, cheering on your favourite, is unbeatable and should be experienced to be believed.
