The Hampton Court Palace Festival is a brilliant start-to-the-summer event with impressive musical acts performing in the grand setting of the Palace and its gardens and courtyards. This year’s line up features Tears for Fears on June 18 & 19, Kylie Minogue on June 20 & 21, and Michael Ball and Alfie Boe to send off the festival for another year with a fireworks display.
Whilst the music is the main feature of the festival, the accompanying amenities make it a great day out. Pre-order a picnic by Fortnum & Mason with hand selected nibbles and treats from their Food Hall and enjoy it whilst soaking up the sun in the Palace’s grounds. Before each performance, enjoy a pre-show champagne tipple at the Champagne Piaff Bar, G&T’s from The Indah Gin Box, and snacks from The Garden Bar. If street food is preferable to a picnic, the festival has a curated offering including Truffle Brothers London, Bohemian Wrapsody, Fuocos Pizza and Panache Ice Cream for pudding. For a real luxury Hampton Court Palace Festival experience, book one of their waterside gazebos complete with lanterns, seating and pre-arranged food and drink if requested.
“This is a festival that offers everything – a wonderful selection of music, a thrilling all-star line-up and a beautiful and historic setting” Classic FM
Hampton Court Palace, found south west of the River Thames, was originally built in 1515 for one of King Henry VIII’s companions (a favourite), Thomas Wolseley. After the breakdown of that relationship, the King owned the Palace and largely expanded it. It is today a major tourist attraction, visited largely in summer where visitors can make the most of the vast grounds, walk the maze, admire the historic tennis court and the largest grape vine in the world.
