The annual London Art Fair, which celebrates current and contemporary art, is returning for January 2020, bringing together an array of experienced and budding art collectors, artists, curators and leading galleries from across the globe.
Spanning five days and taking place within Islington’s extensive Grade II Listed Business Design Centre, the London Art Fair is the ideal place to explore the best of the contemporary art world, network with artists, critics and collectors and perhaps even take home something special for yourself.
Amongst an impressive over 100 exhibiting galleries, the 2020 Fair will see the return of its contemporary photography exhibition, Photo50. This year, author of The Art of Collecting Photography, Laura Noble will present a spectacular showcase titled Occupy the Void, a unique exhibition unveiling the works of 10 accomplished female photographers, all over the age of 50, and the societal ‘space’ they occupy.
National charity, Outside In, which supports and provides a platform ‘for artists who face significant barriers to the art world’, will also be exhibiting a series of works from self-taught textile artist Anthony Stevens; expressive and eccentric hand-embroidered collages inspired by Nichiren Buddhism.
Also back for its second run at the Fair is Platform, a section in which galleries can showcase works from an array of renowned and emerging artists in association with a specific theme. The theme for 2020? Threading Forms; an intriguing exploration of thread in contemporary art.
The London Art Fair has also collaborated with Southampton City Art Gallery for 2020, as their official Museum Partner. Guests will have the chance to peruse the museum’s magnificent exhibition Gallery 80: From Generous Beginnings to Lasting Legacies, which celebrates the Southampton gallery’s 80th anniversary and the impressive works of contemporary art which have been displayed there over the years.
What’s more, there will also be a range of free and daily artist talks, tours and workshops for all to get involved with, whether you are an art aficionado or merely inquisitive about collecting. Don’t miss out on the Fair’s Thursday Late (23 January 5 – 9pm) for a chance to visit the exhibiting galleries after dark, and delight in an array of exciting tours, talks and performances.
