Lycetts Festival of Hunting is a prestigious summer one-day festival that celebrates and showcases the world of hunting. It’s a prestigious event, one steeped in history, and is a staple in the social calendars of the English countryside community. Set in the East of England Showground in Peterborough, the festival celebrates the long-standing tradition of hunting, and in celebration of the incredible hounds that are an integral part of the sport, will boast the largest gathering of hunting dogs in the country.
The day will begin at 7.30 am with breakfast served in The Hunt Marquee, and the horse-jumping classes will commence. After which, visitors will be able to snoop around the exhibitors and trader’s stands, who’ll be selling all types of countryside and hunting related wares. Last year’s event boasted traders such as independent jewellery brands and farm shops selling local produce, country clothing, books and art. You can find the full list of last year’s exhibitors here. After shopping, grab a drink at the bar and enjoy the rest of the festivities which include hunt relay competitions, dog hound judging, a coursing dog parade, and more. Visitors will be able to break up the competition-watching with lunch, followed by afternoon tea and cakes.
This year’s Lycetts Festival of Hunting will introduce two new initiatives to get young members of the countryside community on board; a brand new class just for Young Handlers, and the Young Vice Presidents Membership. The membership, for those 25 and younger, will engage the younger community by offering a discounted membership, reserved seats in the Foxhound enclosure, and the opportunity to buy guest badges to Peterborough Royal Foxhound Show, the Vice Presidents Luncheon, and the Lycetts Festival itself. The new class, for those 12 – 16, is for young handlers who regularly help out at Lycetts Festival of Hunting. They’ll be able to showcase their talents at festival, proving how they can handle, control and control their hound.
