Brew lovers, unite. National Tea Day is coming up – and what better way to celebrate than at the biggest tea party of the year? Visitors are invited to try all sorts of different types of tea at Tobacco Docks’ Fes-Tea-Val, take part in blind tea tasting, and even explore how tea is grown in a ‘Virtual Reali-Tea’ experience. So many puns.
But while you might be partial to a biscuit (or three) with your cuppa, this weekend is more about the wellness side of the tea world. “Tea is becoming increasingly associated with the wellness occasion,” says Diaz Ayub, Tea Futurist at National Tea Day. “This is why for this event we are focusing on ‘Brew More. Do More’ encouraging consumers to get more active with their tea. The tea community are really thoughtful and this whole event is focused around sustainability and generating as little waste as possible.”
Guests can take part in meditation workshops, yoga classes, and even chat to representatives from mental health charity Mind over a cup of tea. There’s also an immersive zone with beauty treatments and beautifying herbal teas, talks about how to incorporate tea into your wellness routine, and a corner dedicated to mindful tea activities.
