The highly anticipated German folk festival bringing together Bavarian cuisine, beer and an immoderate amount of lederhosen returns this September. To celebrate, South London’s events hot-spot Electric Brixton will be hosting its largest ever Oktoberfest, with an immense 2,800 party-goers attending across two exciting events.
In true Oktoberfest spirit, there will be plenty of singing, dancing and eating within the venue’s overhauled interior. Long wooden tables accommodating partners, family, and friends will fill a lively Bavarian beer hall, fit for an entire afternoon and evening of marvellous festival fun.
Renowned London-based eatery, Herman ze German, famed for their delicious German sausage dishes, will be fulfilling guest’s appetites with servings of their iconic Black Forest wurst. Indulge in meaty Currywurst and Brotzel with paprika-spiced fries, along side a multitude of merry beer drinking (in keeping with tradition of course). Beers imported from Germany and supplied by Spaten, Löwenbräu and Becks, will each be served in a gloriously conventional German stein, while waiters and waitresses in attendance to guests’ glasses will be aptly donning their very best Dirndl and Lederhosen.
What’s more, there will be spectacular live music from eight-piece London-based brass band, The Brass Funkeys, who will be bringing a little Bavarian song and dance to the venue, while Sexy Kitchen Party DJs – renowned for their eccentric venue takeovers dressed entirely in chef outfits – will be taking over the music late into the evening, keeping the festivities alive through the night. In between, delight in performances from a selection of London’s best emerging comedians, with a Bratwurst and beer in hand.
The ideal way to celebrate this global volksfest in style, don your best Dirndl and Lederhosen (or don’t – the choice is yours) and sing and dance all night.
