Calling all followers of fashion and interior design alike, award-winning Serbian fashion designer Roksanda Ilincic is opening the doors to ‘The Penthouse’, a uniquely aesthetic apartment revealing the designer’s architectural and artistic style in an interesting and avant-garde format. With an abundance of cool clashing colours and furnishings, and a fusion of stylish sculptures, ceramics and art, visitors can experience this one-of-a-kind residence through a series of guided tours launched in recognition of this year’s London Design festival and King’s Cross Design District.
Located within the spectacular canal-side residence Glasholders London, the three-floor exhibition features an array of inclusive works from a cross-section of other artists and innovators including murals, artwork and textiles from Paris-based artist Caroline Denervaud and ceramics from renowned Australian artist Alana Wilson. There is plenty to be explored and admired, from Postmodern and Mid-Century modern pieces to Pierre Jeanneret chairs from the 1950s, as well as an inspiring collection of displayed literature, personally selected by Roksanda.
Ensure that you make your way up to the roof terrace where you’ll find a glorious garden designed in collaboration with Suzanne Wallgren, with enviable views stretching across Kings Cross’s Coal Drop’s Yard. You might even be pleased to know that the apartment is available for purchase, fully-furnished for £7,750,000.
Roksanda says: ‘As a previous resident of Kings Cross, one of the first people to build a home here when the first regeneration took place, the Gasholders were an iconic landmark that always captured my attention and one which I found particularly beautiful. To be able revisit a neighbourhood that felt so familiar to me and which now hosts the institution which moulded me as a designer, Central Saint Martins, felt like an exciting opportunity. Architecture, art and design are disciplines which consistently inspire my own collections. This project has created the opportunity to expand my own ideas about creating a true reflection of my own aesthetic, beyond fashion.’
Gasholders London, Kings Cross, N1C 4BY
