Love really is in the air following the announcement of Rooftop Film Club’s romance-themed May line-up of our favourite movie moments. The Bussey Building in Peckham, Queen of Hoxton in Shoreditch and Roof East in Stratford are the ideal venues for a late night snuggle on a summer night. With huge screens, comfortable deckchairs and incredible sound, outdoor film setups don’t get better than this. Iconic films on the cards this month include the old and new. From Casablanca (1942) to Pretty Woman (1990) all the way to Mary Poppins Returns (2018), every film celebrates love in one of its many, emotional forms. Screenings span the weekdays and weekend, so you can perk up a terrible Tuesday at work with a dreamy date night (double lounge seats are bookable) or relax into the weekend by watching a comforting classic and gorging on your bottomless popcorn.
Doors open early so you can enjoy spectacular views across the city before the sun sets and the film begins. With Rockadollar returning to the Bussey Building in Peckham, you also have time to feast on a burger or hotdog from six o’clock before settling in for the night.
This year’s extravaganza is sponsored by extrême, who will be handing out indulgent ice-creams at 150 screenings. Their sauce-filled, multiple-layered and biscuit-topped desserts come in four gorgeous flavours including salted caramel and white chocolate, gooey chocolate fudge, fresh and fruity raspberry with double cream and new smooth chocolatey mocha.
Enjoy Rooftop Film Club’s open-air cinematic experiences at Bussey Building, Peckham, Roof East, Stratford, and the Queen of Hoxton, Shoreditch. All have brilliant urban views and, if you’re lucky, enviable access to glorious sunsets.
Screenings begin on 1 May and will continue through the Summer until September.
