Get ready to have the time of your life, because Secret Cinema is returning to the capital – and this summer it’s all about Dirty Dancing. This won’t be the first time the immersive cinema company has taken on the iconic movie: it proved so successful in 2016 organisers decided to bring it back for another round.
Guests are invited to Kellerman’s holiday resort, the setting for the 1987 hit film starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey. If you’ve ever been to a Secret Cinema before, you’ll know to expect a meticulous attention to detail, live entertainment, surprises around every corner, multiple storylines, and on the whole an experience like no other. As well as screening the movie, we’re told this summer’s event – which will take place outdoors – will feature dance classes, live music and huge set pieces, though as with all Secret Cinema productions, much of the details have been kept under wraps. Will you be carrying a watermelon around? Learning to do the famous lift? There’s only one way to find out.
Lucy Ridley, Creative Director of Secret Cinema Presents Dirty Dancing said: ‘Dirty Dancing is one of our audiences’ favourite films and their appetite to experience our reimagined world of Kellerman’s is insatiable. We’re delighted that an even greater audience will be Cha Cha-ing with us this summer.’
Due to popular demand, Secret Cinema has extended the dates for its summer run – it’ll now take place from 22 July until 9 August. Act fast if you want to be there, because it’s always a sell-out.
Since being founded in 2007 by Fabien Riggall, Secret Cinema has changed the way people experience nightlife, culture and film. Curious about what to expect? Check out our review of the most recent Stranger Things production here.
