This Friday, 21 June, marks the Summer Solstice: the longest day in the northern hemisphere. Here in the UK we’ll enjoy a glorious 16 hours and 38 minutes of daylight, as the sun will rise at 4.43am and set at 9.21pm. To celebrate this, holistic London studio Re:Centre will be holding a series of events this weekend, including a live concert, outdoor yoga and an open art studio.
Celebrations will kick off with a Nidra class on Friday evening, a yoga practice centred around yogic sleep, said to be equivalent to four hour’s conventional sleep. Then on Saturday, there will be an open art studio, giving guests the opportunity to see the work of Re:Centre’s eight resident artists up close, with some works available to buy.
All day on Saturday there will be an ‘Open Living Room’ set-up at the studio, with guests invited to come and relax at their riverside lounge to disconnect from technology, mingle with others and play games. While you’re here, pop to the studio at 3pm to perfect your sun salutations at a special class run by Isabel Viegas Groves. Carry this zen to the evening concert, where London-born singer songwriter T U R Y A will be performing a selection of songs from her new EP Echo, inspired by her travels around the world.
