Neighbourhood bars and restaurant collection Darwin & Wallace has partnered with Salon London – the brand ‘bringing ideas to life’ – to host a series of inspiring and thought-provoking talks within the comfort of No 29 Power Station West and No 11 Pimlico Road, the perfect backdrops for a succession of stimulating ‘salons’.
A chance for guests to learn, converse, and contemplate in a sophisticated and social setting, each talk promises to get its audience thinking and setting goals for the new year, whether it be ditching fast fashion, calming our minds or finding happiness in the simpler aspects of life. Kickstart your 2020 in refreshing conversation with an array of writers and experts, and touch on the subjects and concepts we’re all contemplating as we enter into the new year.
Kicking off on the 15th January, the series will begin with award-winning broadcaster, author and psychology lecturer Claudia Hammond. The podcast and radio presenter will be addressing ‘the art of rest’ and ‘how we can find respite in the modern age’. Learn about the value of rest, and how it can help us to renew and in turn, become more productive.
Catherine Gray will follow on the 22nd January with a talk on ‘the unexpected joy of the ordinary’. Join the award-winning writer and editor as she discloses her personal journey to finding happiness and explains why steering clear of the ‘hedonic treadmill’ can bring you closer to happiness than ever before.
Further talks feature consultant clinical psychologist and associate professor at the University of Oxford, Dr Jennifer Wild on ‘becoming extraordinary’, journalist Lauren Bravo on sustainable shopping, and writer and broadcaster-come-dating expert Nichi Hodgson on the concept of ethical dating.
