2019 marks the 40th anniversary of Warwick Folk Festival, a beloved family-friendly festival with arts and crafts, games, sports, food and drink and a unique music line-up featuring popular artists and leading names in the industry. Every year the festival brings the town of Warwick to life as acts pop up and perform at popular areas throughout the town. This year, the festival will be held at Warwick School with surrounding events, utilising the town’s best facilities such as the Unitarian Chapel where advice will be on hand for Tai Chi, community building and dementia care.
This year the festival celebrates its 40th anniversary with news of funding from Art’s Council England which will help continue to develop the festival. With a 40 year history on its back, the festival shows no sign of slowing down. This year attendees can expect popular modern additions such as a mini beer festival tent and craft, food and drink stalls inside a new festival village. Back by popular demand, the festival marquee and swimming pool will return.
This year’s main attraction is their headliner, Billy Bragg, who will return as the headliner especially to celebrate Warwick Folk Festival’s 40th anniversary. Alongside Billy Bragg, the music programme includes other leading names such as Skerryvore, Will Pound & Eddy Jay, Calan, Karan Casey, Nancy Kerr, Breabach and O’Hooley & Tidow. As well as the music offering there’ll be ceilidhs, concerts, dance, sing-arounds, intimate acoustic gigs and larger performances too. Plus, in the town centre, pubs will get involved with music sessions and open-air concerts and the streets will vibrate with vibrant dance displays. A charming summer festival great for a family day out or weekend away, 2019 is the best summer to attend Warwick Folk Festival as they celebrate 40 years of music, food and fun, and look towards another joyous 40 years.
