For a couple of days each summer, the public are offered access to the award-winning private gardens of the Duke and Duchess of Bedford at the Woburn Abbey Garden Show. This year – which marks the 10th anniversary of the show – celebrations are centred around a new theme, dubbed ‘The Good Life’ approach. Visitors are invited to look at ways in which life can be made more mindful, meaningful and sustainable, based around the mantra that ‘everything comes back to the plant.’
An impressive line-up of judges, including Adam Frost, Pippa Greenwood and The Duchess of Bedford, will be assessing displays and trade stands. Alongside this there’ll be gardening talks, opportunities for expert advice, beekeeping demonstrations, edible flower demos, discussions on gardening for mental and physical health and tips on becoming an allotmenteer. Meanwhile celebrity chef Rachel Green will be heading up the Field Kitchen, taking homegrown produce and transforming it into delicious dishes. Guests can also peruse the artisan food hall, luxury gifts stall, and stands selling everything from garden furniture to tools.
Radio and TV presenter Pippa Greenwood says: ‘The Woburn Abbey Garden Show is quite simply two days of horticultural bliss. This fantastic gardening event gets better and better each year with a wide-ranging selection of hand-picked superb quality nurseries offering a phenomenal choice of wonderful plants, plus tours of The Abbey Gardens and pretty well non-stop gardening talks, demonstrations and more! It is no surprise that my favourite garden show, set within the gorgeous grounds of Woburn Abbey Gardens, is rapidly becoming everyone else’s favourite too!’
Set within 42 acres of beautiful grounds, the Woburn Abbey Garden Show has become an important date in the horticultural calendar since being established 10 years ago.
