Love animals? Love coffee? Combine the two with a visit to one the UK’s most adorable animal cafés. Ever since Shoreditch’s Lady Dinah’s Cat Emporium opened its doors in 2014, the animal café trend has continued to grow, resulting in all sorts of feline and canine-havens popping up across the UK. And it shouldn’t come as a surprise – us Brits love our animals, with 12 million (44 percent) of all UK households having a pet, according to the RSPCA.

Lady Dinah’s Cat Emporium, London

PROUDLY PEDIGREE-FREE Lady Dinah’s is proud to be a pedigree- free cat cafe. We do not select our cats by how they look, but by who they are, and if they need a home. Our only criteria to turn away any cat are: serious transmissible illness, or a temperament that would render cafe life stressful for them. Our accidental entourage of black-and-whites and black cats is a reflection of which cats are most frequently abandoned or not adopted. We didn’t pick them for their appearance, they just showed up and needed a home. We’re proud to show off just how wonderful and beautiful every day moggies can be and to make superstars out of everyday cats before rehoming them with their perfect family. Some say they’re boring. Honestly: gross. They’re living creatures, not decorations. #substanceoverstyle #adopt #sorrynotsorry #moggies4ever

Book in for a spot of afternoon tea – think battenburg cakes, fluffy raisin scones and finger sandwiches – whilst interacting with the cafe’s family of fluffy rescue cats, from sibling kittens Mountolive and Balthazaar to Del-Boy who likes to lounge high up on the shelves. ladydinahs.com
