St. JOHN x Fortnum & Mason

When most restaurants undergo a revamp, they use the time to get a bit of hard-earned rest. But not St. JOHN, which is instead relocating its acclaimed Smithfield eatery to a pop-up in Fortnum & Mason for three weeks this February. The restaurant will be setting up camp on the ground floor of the building, which is being given a makeover for the occasion (think white-washed walls and the signature coat pegs). On the menu you’ll find a range of St. JOHN classics, whizzed up by head chef Steve Darou and his team, with dishes including bone marrow and parsley salad, and suet-crusted pies. A much-missed favourite, the St. John Bacon Sandwich, will also be making a temporary comeback, alongside an array of freshly baked pastries and desserts. All this can be paired with own-label wines and cocktails.

Four Hands at Kanishka

Esteemed chef Atul Kochhar is inviting a collection of big names to join him at Mayfair‘s Kanishka for a series of seven-course dining experiences. Kicking things off on 8 February is Nigel Haworth of The Three Fishes in Mitton, who will be bringing his modern British cooking style to Indian flavours: think pumpkin risotto with black truffle, scallops with caviar and seaweed, and Herwdick lamb with sprouting broccoli. Other names due to feature in the series including eco-dining pioneer Adam Handling (Frog), Lisa Allen, Michael Caines and Angela Hartnett, among others.

Seafood dish at Nest restaurant in London

Seafood Season at Nest

Hackney favourite Nest is known for its tasting menus, which are designed to celebrate one hero ingredient at a time. This month it’s all about seafood, with dishes on offer including chalk stream trout tart, crab salad with sea buckthorn, BBQ monkfish, seaweed doughnuts and more. For a real steal, go for a weekday lunch, where you can enjoy four courses for £40, or six for £55. You can opt to add the new one region wine pairing, which focuses on lesser-known bottles from one territory – this month it’s the Loire Valley. From 21 February, it’s all about duck, alongside wines from Spain, while March will celebrate spring vegetables, plus wines from England and Wales.

Seafood Season runs until 17 February 2024, menus from £40pp, nestfood.co.uk

Wine Dinners at Covent Garden Hotel

From the sunny vineyards of Swartland in South Africa to the forward-thinking wines of Eastern Europe, Covent Garden’s new series of dinners will take guests on a journey through different wine regions. Each evening will include a welcome drink and canapes ahead of a four course menu paired with wine, guided by an expert. First up on 11 March is a dinner spotlighting emerging regions in collaboration with Basket Press Wines, ahead of a South African focus on 30 April, sherry on 13 May and English sparkling wine on 10 June.

The Felix Project Supper Club

Sustainability is at the heart of FIELD by Fortnum’s, so it makes sense that they’re collaborating with food waste charity The Felix Project on their latest pop-up. Visit the restaurant this May to enjoy a unique menu made entirely from surplus food from Fortnum & Mason’s shop floor and The Felix Project, with dishes created by chef Justin Horne and his team. Better still, the funds from each ticket bought will allow The Felix Project to deliver at least 300 meals to Londoners in need.
