The closure of pubs prompted an influx of trendy new wine subscription services and online shops – which aren’t going anywhere despite hospitality reopening. Whether you’re looking for a monthly dose of sustainably produced vino or keen to discover new grower champagne producers, keep your glass full with our pick of the best wine delivery services on the market.

Best Wine Delivery & Subscription Services

Words with Wine

Nothing beats a glass of vino and a book – which is why this new subscription box company is combining the two. Each month subscribers will receive a fiction book – typically a new release – alongside a bottle of wine, picked to complement your read. Afterwards, you can discuss the book with other members via an online club. £25 a month. wordswithwine.co.uk

Vinoteca Wine Club

Vinoteca Wine Club

With Vinoteca’s award-winning Wine Shop, you will receive six hand-picked wines each month, accompanied by an exclusive online tasting, so you can learn more about what you’re drinking. Along with six premium wines, you’ll receive members’ content including details on wines with food matches and drinking windows, news, events and recipe ideas. Boxes contain three white and three red wines each month and sustainable practices in both the vineyards and wineries are a big focus for the winemakers the Vinoteca source from. Choose the £80 Vinoteca Friends case of 6 premium wines, or upgrade to Brett & Charlie’s top 6 selections with the £120 Vinoteca Family case. vinoteca.co.uk

Provisions

North London natural wine shop Provisions has launched a monthly wine subscription service, focusing on hand-picked varieties from small suppliers. Each month you’ll receive six low-intervention bottles of a particular theme, complete with tasting sheets. The May theme will be Orange Crush – orange wines from Burgundy, Gascony, Slovakia and Istria. provisionslondon.co.uk

Lucy’s Wine

Lucy's Wine

Launched just last month, Lucy’s Wine focuses on natural, sustainable varieties of vino. Designed to be approachable yet informative – built on the belief that each bottle has a story to tell – boxes contain simple descriptions of the wines inside. You’ll never find any plastic at Lucy’s Wine delivery either: instead, all packaging is recyclable, and 70 per cent is made from recycled materials itself. There’s also an option to carbon offset your order at the checkout. The company works in the same way as subscription services, with boxes changing monthly, though no subscription is required – perfect for those keen to explore the natural wine world without being locked in. Boxes from £42. lucys-wine.com

Crispin Wine Club

Spitalfields restaurant Crispin now has its own online wine club, with bottles selected by its in-house expert Stefano Cazzato, a former sommelier at Londrino and Hakkasan. The focus is on biodynamic, low intervention wines from small producers, putting the spotlight on old world indigenous and rare grape varieties. Each box contains a nice mixture of easy drinking and wilder varieties, with options to select either three or five bottles. From £55 for a three-bottle case. crispinstores.com

Champagne Collective

Champagne Collective

Moët, Dom Pérignon, Bollinger – we all know the big names, but there are so many other champagne producers to be discovered. This is what inspired oenophiles Millie and Gemma to launch Champagne Collective, a subscription service dedicated to grower champagnes. Sign up, and (like magic) two bottles of champagne will arrive at your door each month, complete with information about the grower – typically, they’re from independent, family-run wineries in the Champagne region. From £77 per month. champagne-collective.com

LOW Intervention

Interested in biodynamic, organic and natural wines? Check out new forward-thinking online bottle shop LOW Intervention. The subscription service offers monthly deliveries made with the lowest possible chemical or mechanical intervention – which are better for the drinker, the maker, and the planet. Hand-picked boxes contain three bottles each month, always intended to fit the mood of the season, complete with thoughtfully written tasting notes. From £50 for three bottles per month. lowintervention.com

Bar Douro

Bar Douro

Inspired by the traditional cervejarias and tascas of Lisbon and Porto, Bar Douro is known for its excellent wine list – a selection of which are now available for delivery. Pick from a range of one-off curated boxes, or sign up to The Wine Club: a members-only wine delivery service offering a quarterly delivery of six bottles of wines, curated by Portuguese wine expert Sarah Ahmed. £120 per quarter of the year. bardouro.com

Hedonism

Celebrating something special? Treat yourself to some high-end wine from Hedonism, which usually supplies the drinks for Ollie Dabbous’ Mayfair restaurant HIDE. It’s a pricey option, but order six bottles or more and they’ll waive the delivery fee. hedonism.co.uk

The Sourcing Table

The Sorting Table

New kids on the fine wine block, The Sorting Table is redefining what the best vino means in the 21st century, and making it easier to discover fresh new bottles and makers. ‘It doesn’t have to be fancy or expensive, but have identity,’ says Rajat Parr, award-winning sommelier and founding partner, summing up The Sorting Table’s approach. ‘A wine that has something to say to the drinker who is curious. It’s not just a beverage but a symbol of comfort and identity.’ The result is a collection of wines that are handpicked for their unique stories, exciting terroirs and the passion of their makers. thesortingtable.co.uk

Bubbleshop

Sandia Chang Bubbledogs

Following the sad closure of champagne and hot dog joint Bubbledogs, founder Sandia Chang has launched Bubbleshop: an online shop for grower champagne. Designed to make champagne more accessible, the store is filled with a selection of Sandia’s favourite bottles from some of the region’s most exciting producers, as well as ranges from lesser-known vineyards. bubbledogs.co.uk

Wanderlust Wine Club

The word ‘wanderlust’ means ‘a strong desire to travel’ – here used in the context of wine. Wanderlust Wine is all about supporting small producers making sustainable, high-quality wine from all over the world. Each and every bottle has been organically farmed and made with minimal intervention – and each case comes with full stories of the growers. From £24 for four bottles every two months. wanderlustwine.co.uk
