The late summer sun is shining, and the parks remain full with picnickers aplenty. Sure, you can go to M&S and load up on their ‘to go’ range, but when crisps and dips don’t quite cut the mustard, why not kick things up a notch with a ready-made picnic hamper? An ever-growing collection of restaurants, hotels and delis are offering fine portable feasts. Here are the best luxury picnic hampers in London.

Sofitel London St James

Sofitel London St James

While foreign travel opportunities remain limited, now’s the time to explore our hometowns – and what better way than on two wheels? The new picnic experience from Sofitel London St James offers the chance to enjoy a curated bicycle tour of two of London’s Royal Parks: Hyde Park and St James’ Park. Not only that, but once you’ve finished there will be a luxurious picnic waiting for you, complete with a rug, cutlery and glasses. One of Sofitel St James’ lovely butlers will set everything up in St James’ Park for you – a short walk from the hotel – and come and clear everything away once you’re finished, taking away all the typical stresses of al fresco dining. The picnic hamper is a real treat, featuring a whole host of delicious sweet and savoury delights: think buddha bowl-style salads, sandwiches, quiche, piedmont salami, English and French cheeses, scones and pastries – washed down with a bottle of Baron de Marck champagne. Idyllic. Fancy making a weekend out of it? Book a stay at the hotel – you can read all about it here. £109 for 2 people, sofitelstjames.com
