SCHLOSS Roxburghe – Kelso, Roxburghshire
Scotland

A Schloss in Scotland? Yes indeed: the new-minted Roxburghe Hotel in the Scottish Borders, formerly owned by the Duke of Roxburghe, now mixes traditional Scottish hospitality with German innovation and sky-high standards. Re-opened in June this year after an extensive refurbishment by its German owners, this fine sporting hotel in the easily accessible Scottish Borders, has never looked better. Interiors are by renowned Kitzig Interior Design and combine classic and contemporary with a mix of materials: Scottish patterns and colours, oak, natural stone and linen. The house itself, which stands in wooded grounds bordering the River Teviot, has had an eventful history but the current incarnation is typically solid Scottish Victorian, scented by wood smoke and whiskey. The 20 bedrooms are individually decorated and in the Sunlaws restaurant, the menus focus on modern Scottish dishes with a French twist. The sporting and leisure facilities on the hotel’s estate are second to none, from fishing to tomahawk throwing; and the 18-hole golf course is a championship one.

The iconic brands and products are found in the best international boutiques, but you can also find them right here, in the high streets and factory outlets. Hawick is local to Roxburghe and we can arrange tours of the mills as well as the Borders Distillery. The distillery is dedicated to making great whisky and to capturing the spirit of the Borders.
