We take a look at a new, more rustic approach to adopting metal work in the home

From mercuried silver to burnished brass and oxidised copper, this new metal look is less polished and more rich in colour and patina. Achieve this look in the bedroom or living room with distressed metallic wallpaper, cushions and curtains that bring a sense of warmth and texture to the space. In the kitchen, leave stainless steel for the appliances and instead opt for understated burnished tones, whether for cabinet and drawer fronts or tiled splashbacks.
