Click through our slideshow as Mr Porter’s Style Director, Olie Arnold, chooses his eight key pieces for the boys this autumn.

Whether you are more of a jeans and t-shirt kind of man, or a dapper suit wearer, Olie Arnold has chosen the eight pieces to update your look for A/W’ 16.

Eddie Redmayne and Douglas Booth have both been sporting Private White VC for years. As two of the best dressed men, we can’t help but want to get in on the action too.

Alessandro Michele at Gucci has been embracing a more daring look in menswear since he took over as creative director. This bold floral print is a perfect update from your ordinary button down, and will go down well with the fashionably conscious. Just maybe don’t wear it to a rugby match…

Trainers have been having a moment, but nothing really beats a proper pair of shoes. This Dries van Noten leather shoes are classic and timeless.

Denim can be hard to negotiate nowadays. Do you go skinny or slim, distressed or classic? This slightly distressed pair of slim fitting jeans from RRL jeans are a safe bet and look great with shirts and t-shirts as well as knitwear.

Happy Birthday @mrporterlive! Looking forward to celebrating 5 stylish years (and many more!) #menswear #mrporterontheroad #douglasbooth #sergeleblon #styledbyme

Military inspired items are never far from our consciousness. Just take a look at Burberry’s latest see now-buy now collection that took place in September to feast your eyes on a celebration of all this military. The army jacket is easier to pull off (due to the lack of embellishment) and looks great layered under coats too. This Valentino jacket will also take you through to spring /summer.

We love a pop of colour, especially when it’s in a tartan check. Oliver Spencer’s wool blend jacket is great for this mild autumn weather.
