Italian fashion house Gucci has taken to London’s The Savoy to give the luxury hotel’s Royal Suite a Gucci-inspired makeover.

It’s always a joy when two eminent brands join forces – but when it involves a world-renowned fashion house and historic London hotel, it’s all the more exciting. Celebrating Gucci’s centenary year, The Savoy is honouring its special relationship with the design house – founder Guccio Gucci was in fact once employed as a luggage porter and liftboy at the landmark destination – ‘in a host of creative ways’, as described by the hotel.

Back in April of this year, the hotel played host to a private screening of Gucci’s ‘Aria’ collection by Alessandro Michele, which marked the fashion house’s 100th anniversary. Continuing the alliance, Gucci has now transformed The Savoy’s Royal Suite (which comprises the length of the hotel’s fifth floor and boasts views over the River Thames) ‘into a reflection of the Gucci world’. Think sumptuous furnishings and embellishments from the Gucci Décor collection (the brand’s assemblage of handcrafted homeware and home accessories). Guests of the Royal Suite will also enjoy a dedicated butler, use of The Savoy’s Rolls-Royce, bespoke in-room amenities, Gucci experiences, and more.

The hotel has also called upon British auction house Christie’s to provide an array of compelling art and antiquities, ‘carefully chosen to complement the aesthetic, which has been conceived to harmonise with the design and heritage of The Savoy,’ the hotel has stated. What’s more, all Gucci and Christie’s items displayed in the suite will be available for purchase.

‘This is a wonderful opportunity to partner with two iconic luxury brands and bring our private sales service to guests of this great London hotel,’ says Adrien Meyer, Global Head of Private Sales at Christie’s. ‘At Christie’s, the ultimate luxury is to be surrounded by art. Together with Gucci, the Royal Suite at The Savoy will become the most exclusive place to stay in London.’

Franck Arnold, Managing Director at The Savoy said: ‘It’s wonderful to bring alive our shared history to contemporary audiences, and we’re excited to unveil a transformed Royal Suite, as well as providing guests with charming experiences and exceptional service that befit two brands with such global renown.’

Guests can expect more from the partnership later in the year – though the details are yet to be announced.
