It’s official: hotels in the UK are back. But which hotels are open? From exciting garden parties to ultra-luxe glamping pop-ups, there’s plenty to be excited about, whether you’re looking for a seaside escape or a chic London staycation. We’re making it easier for you to scope out your next hotel getaway with a roundup of some of the hottest hotels in the country’s plans for summer 2021. Freedom beckons…
UK Hotel Reopening Plans 2021
45 Park Lane, London
The Spa at 45 Park Lane opened to hotel guests from 17 May. Designed by Jouin Manku, the 10,000 square foot wellness space will host Park Lane’s longest swimming pool, spanning 20 metres. There will also be a personal training room and gym, separate sauna and steam rooms, a hydrotherapy pool and private changing and shower rooms. Spa treatments will be by Valmont and Aromatherapy Associates.

The Newt, Somerset
The Newt is welcoming guests to enjoy the hotel, spa and restaurants, adhering to the rule of six guidelines until further notice. Guests staying at The Newt can expect beautifully designed rooms and large baths, fresh seasonal fare from the estate’s garden eateries, and cyder made fresh at the on-site Cyder Press. Seasonal workshops and tours include Cyder Tastings, Garden Tours and Bee Safaris and this June, sees the return of ‘Garden Lates’ – a sunset picnic supper accompanied by live music.

Bvlgari Hotel London
To celebrate the return of hotels, Bvlgari has launched B.Entertained as part of its Staycation programme, with a luxurious night in a Bvlgari Suite with a menu of entertainment to enjoy. The package will include a menu design by Bvlgari Hotel London’s highly regarded executive chef Adriano Cavagnini, a choice of in-suite evening entertainment including a DJ set by Nolita Social resident DJ, Ana Her or the Collyer twins, live singing performance by Nolita Social resident solo artist Abbie Adi or magic show by Magic Circle member Christopher Howellor Tramp resident magician Martin Sanderson. The Pheasant Inn, near Hungerford
The Pheasant Inn is open with three three brand new boutique bedrooms (taking the total to 14) and extended restaurant. The rooms have been designed by London based interior designer, Isabella Worsley, adding to the previous work of Flora Soames and Octavia Dickenson. The new menu at the restaurant, created by Head Chef Andy Watts, boasts a series of British dishes all made with local seasonal produce, including Cornish crab salad with toasted sourdough, brown crab butter, avocado, apple, extra virgin rapeseed oil and Wild garlic gnocchi with sautéed mushrooms, charred broccoli, crispy shallot rings and pesto.

Culloden Estate and Spa, Northern Ireland
This luxury estate, which has entertained the likes of Victoria and David Beckham and Catherine Zeta-Jones, is the perfect spot for a post-lockdown romantic break, set in a magnificent estate in the suburbs of Belfast’s gold coast. It was once the official palace for the Bishops of Down and stands in 12 acres of secluded gardens and woodland. The Milestone Hotel & Residences, London
To celebrate its reopening, The Milestone is offering a three-night stay for the price of two in its suites. Guests will be personally welcomed with an expertly mixed drink by General Manager, Andrew Pike, with a bottle of wine waiting in their suite and complimentary canapes. Rosewood London

Hotel Meudon, Cornwall
The Hotel Meudon is relaunching under new ownership for 2021 following an extensive refurbishment. Hidden down a quiet lane at Mawnan Smith near Falmouth, it is the only hotel set in Cornish subtropical gardens with direct access to a private beach, Bream Cove.

The Machrie, Islay Scotland
Nestled on a seven-mile beach The Machrie’s rooms, suites and standalone self-catered lodges provide a stylish and spacious base for a remote, island staycation to Scotland. The Double Red Duke, Cotswolds
This 17th century Clanfield Coaching Inn is new for 2021, nestled in the picturesque Cotswold village of Clanfield, near Bampton. Fowey Hall, Fowey, Cornwall
Overlooking the Fowey estuary, luxury family hotel Fowey Hall offers the perfect place for rest and relaxation, excitement and adventure for all the family by the sea. This year, the hotel is celebrating fabulous local producers with a bi-weekly pop-up market in partnership with Farms to Feed Us starting 30 May. Running every other Sunday morning, 9.30am-12.30pm, it will feature stalls offering food, beverage, craft and community initiative, and will run throughout the summer.

Thornbury Castle, Gloucestershire
Thornbury Castle, built in 1511 during the reign of Henry VIII, is reopening following a multi-million pound refurbishment. Located near Bristol and adjacent to the Gloucestershire countryside, Thornbury Castle is the only Tudor castle in the UK which operates as a hotel and restaurant. Activities to look forward to include bespoke historical tours, a walking garden tour exploring the Castle’s Tudor gardens and kitchen garden, axe throwing, sword skills, archery, falconry, croquet on the lawn and the opportunity to ‘Become a Tudor Queen’ for the day.

Glamping at Woolley Grange Hotel, Bradford-on-Avon,
Luxury Family Hotels has launched a collaboration with The Pop-Up Hotel for the ultimate glamping staycation. Nestled in the beautiful grounds of the hotel in the meadow directly parallel to the hotel, Luxury Family Hotels Pop-Up Hotel will be a short walk away from Woolley Grange itself and its south facing outdoor swimming pool, indoor spa, pool and OFSTED registered Den. Each suite features one large master bedroom with a double bed, a second bedroom with two single beds, and a private bathroom with a flushing toilet, a contemporary standalone shower with hot and cold running water 24/7, and a separate wash basin. Bankside’s new offerings for 2021 range from a tequila terrace, a couple’s therapist and a canine concierge. The El Rayo Pop-Up Terrace at Bankside aims to transport guests to Mexico with Bankside’s Tequila and Tonic Terrace in partnership with El Rayo. Meanwhile, the ‘Relight our Fire’ experience aims to foster intimacy between couples that may have been lost during the stresses of lockdown with a one-to-one virtual session with Dr. Kalanit, one of the capitals most in demand relationship therapists. After the consultation Dr. Kalanit will create a personalised programme to help enhance passion and communicate more effectively.

Brown’s Hotel, London
A must for art fans this season is The Great Hockney Escape at Brown’s Hotel. ‘We have been practicing social distancing for over 300 years’ reads a statement on Lucknam Park’s website. Set amongst 500 acres of private land and with a big focus on outdoor pursuits, there is plenty to do.
